SUMMARY
Weis Markets offers a robust Pharmacy Intern Program designed to provide pharmacy students with hands-on experience and development opportunities throughout their professional school journey. Pharmacy Student Interns work under the direct supervision of licensed pharmacists and serve as vital team members, supporting both clinical and operational functions in our pharmacies. The program is structured to align with each intern's year of professional schooling, progressively building the skills and competencies required to become a Weis Markets pharmacist.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:
1. Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, helping resolve issues in a professional manner, and supporting daily pharmacy operations.
2. Perform technician-level tasks including, but not limited to, data entry, prescription processing, and inventory management.
3. Participate in patient counseling activities under direct pharmacist supervision.
4. Support clinical services such as immunizations, Medication Therapy Management (MTM), medication synchronization, and patient outreach for services and wellness initiatives, where permitted by law and under direct pharmacist supervision.
5. Support initiatives that promote medication adherence, synchronization, text alerts, and customer wellness.
6. Process third-party claims and help resolve insurance-related issues.
7. Enter and update patient and prescription information into the pharmacy computer system accurately.
8. Interact with physicians and utilize reference material to gain information on customers and prescriptions and to resolve any issues that arise.
9. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment.
10. Complete assigned semester-based projects in collaboration with the Pharmacy District Manager or Pharmacy Regional Manager.
11. Attend district-level meetings and shadow pharmacy leadership in day to day operations.
12. Progress through Intern Training Checklists appropriate for each professional year, including technician training, operational knowledge, patient care, and pharmacist development.
13. Travel to assigned store locations and attend scheduled events (e.g., flu clinics, DM ride-along).
14. Responsible for submitting all mileage and expenses following all company policies and procedures.
15. Actively participate in feedback and evaluation sessions and use results to build professional growth plans.
16. Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, regulations, and corporate policies.
17. Perform additional job-related responsibilities and duties as necessary or assigned.
18. Support and embody the Mission, Vision, and Values of Weis Markets.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, the associate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required:
Education and/or Experience
Actively enrolled in an accredited School of Pharmacy (Professional Year 1 through 4).
Must have and maintain an active Pharmacy Intern License in good standing with the state Board of Pharmacy (where applicable).
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or governmental regulations. Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Able to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

This position requires the following Licenses and Certifications:
· Valid driver’s license for business travel purposes.
· Valid Pharmacy Technician Licenses in states requiring licensure.
· Valid Pharmacy Intern License.

– Use hands to finger, handle, and/or feel; the ability to type, pick, pinch with fingers, seize, hold, grasp or turn with hands, and perceive attributes of objects and materials, such as size, shape, temperature, or texture, by touching with fingertips.
– Lift up to ten (10) pounds and carry a distance of fifty (50) feet.
-Occasionally required to do the following activities:
Maintain balance while walking, standing, crouching, or running.
– Twist upper torso.
– Stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.
– Reach up and out with hands and arms.
– Climb stairs and/or ladders.
– Lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds and carry a distance of twenty-five (25) feet.
-Rarely required to do the following activities:
– Lift up to fifty (50) pounds and carry a distance of ten (10) feet.
-Specific vision abilities required for this job include:
– Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less).
– Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more).
– Color vision and the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
– Depth perception and the ability to judge distances and spatial relationships.
