Overview

The Regional Asset Protection Specialist provides regulatory compliance, operational auditing, and training support for Weis Markets retail stores.  The Regional Asset Protection Specialist will work closely with business partners to manage the operational processes through auditing, training, and awareness.  Additionally, monitoring and training on the retail safety programs will be conducted by this position.  This position will be a support role for Asset Protection and may assist in investigations, high shrink inventory reviews and internal theft interviews.  Retail Asset Protection experience is preferred.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
None.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop an efficient Operational Audit schedule.  Must plan around store training sessions, district and regional meetings, holidays, and inventories.
  • Perform Operational Audits for assigned stores each audit cycle.  Additional audits will need to be completed on high shrink/high risk stores as needed; ensuring strict adherence to audit standard and standard operating procedures.
  • Provide feedback and training to stores which perform poorly on audits.
  • Record control breakdowns as identified through the audit and clearly document the specifics of each breakdown as measured against standard operating procedure.
  • Drive behavioral change in stores to minimize loss; utilize audit standards to identify and correct control breakdowns.
  • Report serious deficiencies upon discovery of policy and compliance violations and any theft/fraud situation.
  • Attend physical inventory in stores with high shrink history;  assist in performing high shrink investigations for warranted stores.
  • Train department, store, district and regional team members of audit standards and standard operating procedures as needed.
  • Provide support for stores on safety related issues.
  • Audit required training for regulatory and safety programs.
  • Provide hazard identification and response training for retail associates – accident response and investigation, emergency response and general safety training.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Superior analytical ability to develop and interpret statistical data.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to act as a change agent educating store, district and regional personnel on new programs designed to minimize loss and reduce safety incidents.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and investigative skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 70% of the time, including some overnights.
