Overview

 Our customer courtesy associates assist the customer quickly and efficiently by gathering shopping carts and providing carry out services.  The following list serves as a sample of commonly performed duties.

  1. Follow company guidelines for providing quality customer service by greeting customers with a smile, offering assistance, suggesting alternatives when necessary and thanking them for shopping.  Always maintain a positive and friendly attitude.  Answer customer questions.
  2. Ensure fresh quality merchandise by using proper product handling and bagging techniques.  Help with controlling damages and minimizing product losses according to company procedures and standards.
  3. Help all customers by loading groceries into their vehicles.  Retrieve all shopping carts on the premises safely and efficiently. Ensure carts are available for customer use by collecting them from parking area and cart corrals.  Report any defective carts to management.  Keep carts, parking lot, store entrance, and front-end clean and free of debris. 
  4. Must be familiar with store layout to direct customers to desired product.  Familiarity with the weekly ad, advertised and in-store specials, and special promotions may be needed from time to time.  Generate sales by suggestive selling.
  5. Follow company, state, and federal safety regulations.  Remain alert to safety issues, particularly at the entrance and exit doors to ensure there are no hazards. 
  6. Ensure smooth workflow within department by cooperating with co-workers and superiors.  Strive to continuously improve job performance. 
  7. Follow sanitation guidelines to maintain department conditions.  Ensure compliance with health regulations, weights requirements, and measures and labeling laws according to company, state, federal and OSHA regulations. Dispose of trash properly. 
  8. Complete other job duties as requested by management.

Job Qualifications

Education and Experience
Current student, High School diploma or GED preferred 

Knowledge and Experience 
Experience dealing with customers helpful
Ability to multi-task 

Physical Requirements
Hearing/Listening
Sight and Peripheral vision
Pushing, pulling, lifting (up to 35 lbs), bending, twisting
Extended periods of standing and walking
Able to tolerate outdoor temperatures, both Winter and Summer
Verbal communication
