Overview

The primary purpose of the Clinical Program Coordinator position is to support and oversee the design, implementation, and ongoing management of clinical patient care programs. The associate will be responsible for overseeing the Medication Therapy Management program and helping support pharmacy associates in optimizing positive patient outcomes. Assists the Specialty Pharmacy and Call Center in the creation and on-going support of clinical patient programs for specialty medications. Responsible for identifying drug therapy opportunities across the department and creating evidence-based enterprise level programs. The position will support store based clinical questions by researching or using current clinical knowledge and aid in the establishment of protocols and policies related to the clinical patient programs.

The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:

  1. Responsible for utilizing available reporting, evidence-based information, and industry trends to design and implement clinical focused patient programs across the pharmacy department.
  2. Directs the Medication Therapy Management program by developing and maintaining program training, vendor partnerships, benchmarking, and store level communication and support process.
  3. Responsible for maintaining a compressive knowledge on all pharmacy platforms used to provide clinical patient programs and works together with Pharmacy Operations to further integrate and enhance programs for an optimal associate and customer experience.  
  4. Understands and evaluates available medication adherence reporting to identify opportunities to improve patient outcomes and improve pharmacy profitability. Responsible for designing and creating additional reporting as needed.
  5. Provide store level support for clinical based questions by using current clinical knowledge and/or available resources to research questions and provide timely responses.
  6. Aids in the creation and ongoing maintenance of operational protocols and policies in relation to clinical patient care programs.
  7. Partners with the Weis Lifestyles and Dieticians team to assists in the administration of associate wellness programs.
  8. Manages and is responsible for routine training and compliance of pharmacy REMs programs.   
  9. Assists the Manager of Specialty pharmacy in the creation and implementation of patient care programs and outreach programs for Specialty Pharmacy.
  10. Assists in the processing and fulfillment of Specialty Pharmacy medications as needed.
  11. Maintains collaborative business relationships with extended pharmacy and store operations, Information Technology, Human Resources, and outside vendors.
  12. Directs, oversees, and executes all activities associated with Clinical Patient Programs to ensure all budgetary and operational goals are met for Pharmacy Fulfillment Center.
  13. Utilizes all available reporting pertaining to identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and output.  
  14. Supports and oversees the Specialty Pharmacy Operations when needed.
  15. Develops, maintains, and executes strategies to influence and engage associates.
  16. Leads relations and communications with various external vendors, auditors, and outside agencies, as needed for clinical programs.
  17. Facilitates and assists local retail pharmacy locations with questions, concerns, and needs related to Central Fill Pharmacy operations.
  18. Ensures outstanding customer service is always exhibited.
  19. Complies with all federal and state laws and regulations.

Job Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy, plus at least two (2) years’ experience in a community or centralized pharmacy practice environment. At least two (2) years’ experience completing MTM related activities and/or other clinical patient programs.  Active license as a practicing pharmacist in PA and immunization certification through an accredited organization. Additional state licenses are preferred and will be required as needed.
