Overview

SUMMARY

Provides leadership and direction through managing on-hand resources in order to execute company plans, directives and meet expected service levels.  This position serves as a general supervisory position and is expected to oversee all departments and operations of the store. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Floor Manager is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:

  1. Acts as Manager on Duty (MOD) in most cases, performing all necessary functions for successful store operation.  The floor manager will take direction from the Store Manager, and make key decisions on store resources and decisions to be made.

  2. Executes merchandising plans and maintain in-stock conditions throughout the stores.

  3. Drives engagement by communicating with customers and providing feedback and service results to associates.  Resolves customer issues promptly and effectively. 

  4. Oversees work assignments to most effectively utilize talents and abilities while maximizing profits.  Ensures compliance with all labor laws, including lunch breaks and minor scheduling restrictions.

  5. Oversees established departmental procedures for receiving, producing, and replenishing merchandise including inspecting the product when delivered, pricing accuracy, freshness and quality, and product rotation. Enforces keeping of necessary logs according to company policy.

  6. Ensures associates work and operate equipment safely, complying with OSHA requirements.  Ensures compliance with price accuracy as well as weights and measures laws. 

  7. Performs daily store walks of the entire store and exterior property to identify successes and opportunities, provide direction and feedback, and be visible and accessible to associates and customers.

  8. Supports and executes all company programs to achieve desired business results.  Ensures that company policies are communicated to, understood, and followed by associates.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Direct work of all associates in building while functioning as MOD.

Job Qualifications

Qualification Requirements

To perform this job successfully, the associate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required:

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. 

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in business related or Food Service related field desirable.

Minimum 2 years’ experience in management in a retail/restaurant/supermarket environment.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
