The primary purpose of this position is to supervise and coordinate the repair and maintenance of the Company’s fleet of tractors, trailers and other vehicles. The associate will establish maintenance schedules, develop work procedures and direct the Fleet Maintenance team.
The associate will also play an integral role in the hiring, training, and ongoing development of vehicle maintenance technicians to ensure that our highly skilled workforce is able to meet company expectations.
The incumbent is also required to perform all tasks in a safe manner consistent with corporate policies and applicable laws.
The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:
Coordinate, schedule, and audit vehicle maintenance repairs to include preventative mechanical and electrical repair to tractors, trailers, small trucks, and cars. This may include scheduling repairs and maintenance with 3rd party vendors.
Prioritize and assign work to meet company needs
Ensure quality, compliance, and safety of company’s assets
Control repair, inventory and labor costs
Coach and mentor associates
Monitor associate work levels
Manage facilities, and equipment assuring a clean and safe working environment
Develop, present, and oversee financial budgets on an annual basis
Coordinate roadside repairs as needed
Maintain necessary parts/tires inventory and oversee orders as needed
Monitor and maintain the fleet fueling stations along with computerized fuel access programs.
Monitor diesel and DEF inventory and order as needed
Monitor vehicle condition and recommend replacement as needed
Write and maintain specifications for all types of fleet vehicles and work with vendors to solicit bids for new fleet equipment
Process vehicle accident reports and damage claims with insurance companies
Associates or Tech School Degree preferred. Three years of fleet maintenance management experience preferred, or at least three years of team management in an environment with strong operational metrics.
