The primary purpose of this position is to provide the vision and leadership for designing, developing and implementing IT initiatives that create customer and business value. The Director, Enterprise Services will play a meaningful role supporting our organization to deliver projects and create new value. Our vision is to enable Enterprise Services that are aligned to business strategy and focusing on standardized processes, capabilities, and enabling technology.  Responsibilities include influencing and directing the Company’s information technology evolution to ensure key business strategies and processes are driven by technologies that enable change, growth and flexibility. The Director must ensure our technology platforms are reliable, secure, cost efficient, and strategically sound, reflecting business needs and best practice in creating value for the company and our customers.

The Director, Enterprise Services is an expert in process improvement, program and project management methodologies and technology. This role will own and drive the design and implementation of streamlined processes across the enterprise portfolio as well as development and sharing of standard methodologies. This role will lead enterprise architecture, business systems analysis and enterprise program management teams.

The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:

  1. Develop and lead a team of technology professionals required to achieve strategic objectives. This includes learning and growth objectives focus on skills, culture, and organizational capacity of the functional teams within area of responsibility and direct leadership and management of those teams.
  2. Develop and maintain a strong understanding of Weis Markets’ business strategy and objectives. Facilitate alignment and ongoing awareness of the business unit goals to support Weis Markets’ operational, financial and customer objectives.
  3. Direct and implement a technology strategy that delivers a competitive advantage through the use of effective, cost competitive technologies to support Weis Markets’ business strategy and objectives.
  4. Lead the identification and analysis of enterprise business requirements in design, configuration and deployment of technologies and department processes and procedures to support Weis Markets’ business strategy and objectives, including, but not limited to:
    • Establish and maintain an enterprise architecture function responsible for the development and maintenance of enterprise technology standards, development of portfolio roadmaps and approval of any changes during project initiation and planning phases.
    • Creation of a business systems analysis team to support business planning and modelling activities. This team will be responsible for the creation of business requirements, process improvements and associated analysis activities to support Weis Markets’ business strategy and objectives.
    • Lead continued development of enterprise program management office through defined standards, improvements to the project delivery model; delivering initiatives on-time, within budget and meeting Weis Markets’ stakeholder expectations.
  5. Analyze technology industry and market trends and determines potential impact upon the enterprise. 
  6. Instill a continuous improvement culture based on quantifiable metrics and root cause analysis.
  7. Strive to continuously improve communication between Information Technology, business units and associates throughout the enterprise. Build and maintain communication paths with all key stakeholders and service recipients.
  8. Establish and maintain good working relationships with direct reports, including but not limited to, provide regular coaching and feedback on performance, prepare and present formal performance appraisals as required, ensure adherence to established corporate and department policies and procedures.
  9. Identify, define and recommend ways to improve overall business processes, procedures, and systems to increase productivity, customer service and cost effectiveness.
  10. Create and implement department-level, business unit-level and enterprise-wide policies when necessary to clarify critical processes and responsibilities.
  11. Provide strong vendor management across all technology platforms.
  12. Negotiate contracts for software, hardware, consulting, and/or services related to areas of responsibility. Ensure fair pricing and protect the company against loss of services and liability. Review and authorize payment of invoices for all incoming expense related to these ongoing contracts. Escalate issues with vendors and business partners to force compliance with performance requirements including, stability, functionality and recoverability.
  13. Establish and maintain strong financial controls on assigned areas to manage capital and operating expenses on an ongoing basis.
  14. Spearhead efforts to develop and adhere to the annual budgets for software, hardware, services, training and other needs.
  15. Provide timely and accurate communication of pertinent information regarding activities of the team to the VP of IT and/or CIO.

Job Qualifications


Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Computer Science/Information Technology or other pertinent business field, plus fifteen (15) or more years' related and progressively more responsible work experience, a minimum of which shall include ten (10) or more years managing direct/indirect resources.


5+ years’ experience in leading or developing change initiatives in a business or IT organization.

Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Information Technology or pertinent business field.
