Overview

The project manager will execute store construction projects, including new stores, acquisitions, relocations, expansions/remodels, fuel projects and small projects under the direction of the Director of Construction.  Complete projects at/below budget and on/before project deadlines consistent with the approved scope of work.  You will be the company’s representative on store construction projects.  The Project Manager will provide timely and accurate information to contractors and vendors.  The project manager will monitor and maintain project financial reports and quality control from the design through the completion of the warranty period.
 

  • Attend pre-planning meetings
  • Review plans for conformance with Weis Markets Inc. standards
  • Review and comment during drawing/plan reviews
  • Attend project meetings
  • Work with the contractor to develop project schedule
  • Coordinate with operations, merchandising, store support to create the least amount of impact to the store operations during construction.
  • Monitor project construction costs
  • Coordinate equipment deliveries and schedule
  • Monitor construction quality
  • Review all change orders
  • Communicate and follow up with Weis Markets stakeholders and associates
  • Act as point of contact for assigned stores under construction
  • Produce punch lists for all areas of the project
  • Coordinate project close out

Job Qualifications

  • Three to Five years’ experience in the design and/or construction of retail facilities.

  • Experience managing contractors.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to coordinate all assigned work and projects with the regional & district managers and store managers.

  • Associates degree or vocational certificate in construction management, engineering, architecture or equivalent education and/or experience.

  • A thorough knowledge of budgeting, scheduling, design, construction and fixturing of retail store projects as well as the ability to control and track budgets and schedules.

  • Capability to analyze and solve coordination and construction issues with internal and external construction team

  • Review and coordinate equipment acquisition through purchasing department(s).

  • Must have strong computer skills and proficient in use of Microsoft Office applications including excel.
