The primary purpose of this position is to provide support to the Asset Protection and Risk Management department in processing workers compensation, general liability, and pharmacy claims.  Working closely with our insurance brokers, third party administrators, and defense counsel to effectively manage the cost and closure of claims is required.  The incumbent is also required to perform all tasks according to company policies and state and federal laws.


The associate is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:

  1. Serve as primary Claims Liaison for Third Party Administrator(s), providing information and assistance as needed on new claims from Wazagua, previously reported pharmacy malpractice and general liability exposures.
  2. Assist and support the Director, Risk Management and Safety and Defense Counsel in response to litigation discovery demands on pending litigation.
  3. Communicate with Store Personnel, Field Management, Defense Counsel and Claims Representatives to secure vital information for the accurate adjudication of claims and lawsuits.
  4. Maintain office records and litigation discovery requests.
  5. Provide loss analysis reports by preparing weekly, monthly and quarterly reports from the case management tools.
  6. Receive, investigate, and resolve customer complaints on claim related matters.
  7. Work with vendors in the preparation and dissemination of Quality Assurance and Risk Management reports. Affirm data and reports are accurate.
  8. Work with Store Managers to assist them in the return to work effort and prepare return to work letter to associates.
  9. Verify, update and provide OSHA 300 and 300A data and reports to Store Management and Asset Protection.
  10. Responsible to obtain and retain Insurance Certificate of Insurance. 
  11. Able to multi-task and work on special projects as assigned.

Job Qualifications

  • Education and/or Experience

    Associate's degree (AA) in Business Administration or Legal Studies, plus two (2) or more years' of experience in casualty insurance or claims, two (2) or more years of experience in litigation support; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Language Skills

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small-group situations to customers, clients, and other associates. Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.

    Mathematical Skills

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
