Overview

A Buyer is responsible for warehouse inventory replenishment using BICEPS to maintain accurate forecasts and vendor and item information.  Buyers will create and send purchase orders to warehouse suppliers and track shipments from purchase order creation to warehouse receipt.  A Buyer will maintain accurate turn forecasts tracking and adjusting for seasonal trends and forecast for promotional and holiday inventory needs.  Frequent independent judgements are essential.  The incumbent is also required to perform all tasks in a safe manner consistent with company policies and state and federal laws.

  1. Review forecast variances weekly correcting changes caused by distribution or promotional activity.

  2. Effectively forecast for promotions and holiday events to meet desired service level and inventory turn goals.

  3. Utilize provided reports to ensure 100% service level on Cover/Wrap Items.

  4. Effectively manage long term promotional activity through adjustments to the turn forecast.

  5. Review Out of Stock Reports to identify the root cause for the out of stock and develop an action plan to recover to meet service level goals.

  6. Work with Category Manager and Shelf Management to adjust inventory needs to change in item store counts.

  7. Maintain accurate vendor information for efficient procurement.Utilize vendor ordering parameters to include order restriction and shelf life days to buy in economic order quantities.

  8. Identify root cause for vendor service issues and work with Merchandising team on a recovery or substitution plan.

  9. Work with Vendors and the Data Integrity Team on item parameter changes to limit service level interruptions.

  10. Manage inbound orders to ensure service level and days of supply goals are met.Identify late purchase orders and work with vendors to identify and correct root cause.Expedite purchase orders to meet store demand when needed.

  11. Manage inventory cycle of items including initial order quantity, managing and setting initial turn forecast.Effectively manage discontinued items to limit excess stock in the Distribution Center to limit liability at store level.

  12. Manage guaranteed fresh days and shelf life to limit shrink at store level.Work with Merchandising team on close code opportunities to provide fresh product to our customers.

Job Qualifications

High school diploma or general education degree (GED), plus a minimum of three (3) years procurement related experience or a Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) Business, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Ability to effectively partner with functional peers and internal partners.

§ Strong organizational, analytical and time management skills.

§ Ability to analyze financial & statistical reports.

§ Accepting of coaching, guidance and supervision.
