This role is responsible for the ongoing design and development of Weis Markets’ data platform to provide a scalable data warehouse supporting a wide variety of business data needs. The Cloud Systems Developer will provide both technical and functional support to business users and IT teams. The individual works closely with the business SME’s to determine and build requirements for future data strategy and enhancements, as well as answer user community questions concerning data strategy and data availability. The Cloud Developer will analyze Azure Services and technologies and provide guidance on services that will assist with solving business challenges.

Functional Skills

  • Assist in the design and build of cost-efficient cloud-native infrastructure supporting data strategy.
  • Provide strategic guidance for running workloads in the cloud preferably within Microsoft Azure.
  • Strong expertise in ETL/ELT approaches and expertise in technologies including: Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Bricks, and SQL Server Integration Services.
  • Automate the provisioning of infrastructure, deployment, and releases within the cloud.
  • Good understanding of Azure storage services including Azure Data Lakes and Azure SQL instances.
  • Gather requirements, assess client capabilities and analyze findings to provide appropriate cloud recommendations and adoption strategy.
  • Learn and adopt new tools and techniques to increase performance, automation and scalability.
  • Experience with performance analysis, troubleshooting and remediation techniques.
  • Experience with identity and access management, governance tools, encryption and key management principles, and secure cloud design patterns.
  • Develop and publish job streams, Azure services artifacts, and other data migration tools to make available data supporting analytical services.
  • Experience creating complex data models.
  • Experience with data enrichment and curation.
  • Works with business users and IT Support teams to map current and future business processes and aligns data strategy with short-term and long ‐term business strategies.
  • Documents business requirements and creates detailed functional / technical data maps and data lineage.
  • Creates detailed test plan. Executes test plan and documents test metrics and results with detailed backout plans.
  • Works with vendors and technical teams to resolve system issues.
  • Evaluates issue patterns to plan and recommend process improvement and system upgrades.
  • Demonstrate good organizational and analytical skills.
  • Possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • May require off-hours support, at times, in the resolution of issues for supported applications.
  • Coordinates the deployment of new code and follows the standard Change Control procedures.
  • Understands changes in business needs and works with leadership to prioritize tasks as necessary.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science/ Information systems or any related field.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in integration analysis and/or integration development.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience developing data integrations with services including Data Factory and Data Bricks.
  • Experience developing job streams moving data from on-premise to cloud storage (preferably with Data Factory).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with at least one programming language (Python, C#, Java) preferably Python.
  • Expertise in writing SQL queries.
  • Working knowledge of Snowflake is a bonus.
  • Working knowledge of Power BI is a bonus.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to think beyond boundaries for solutions of issues and user requests.
  • Ability to understand emerging practices and technology in Azure Services and Data management technologies.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
