GENERAL SUMMARY:
The role of the RCI: Organized Retail Crime Theft Investigator is to identify, investigate, and resolve external theft and organized retail crime within an assigned geographic area. RCI’s will use store surveillance equipment, “floor walking” skills and communication with store management to apprehend offenders. RCI’s will process retail theft accordingly and participate in the prosecution process and court proceedings.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Investigate and resolve external theft (Shoplifting, Refund Fraud, Organized Retail Crime, Etc.)
Analyze and evaluate dishonest behavior and suspicious activity.
Operate the store surveillance system to identify dishonesty.
Conduct undercover surveillance posing as a shopper and blending in with the public.
Act as a liaison between Weis Markets and local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
Professionally represent Weis Markets in court hearings and mediations.
Effectively manage time and schedule to best suit the company’s needs, including evenings, weekends, and occasional overnights.
Travel to multiple locations within an assigned area and provide investigative support.
Partner with Store Management and associates to best protect the company assets.
Conduct shoplifter awareness training with store associates.
Monitor merchandise for sale at independent shops and flea markets to identify a stolen product.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree is preferred.
One year retail loss prevention experience.
Able to pass a comprehensive background and drug screening.
Demonstrate a high level of confidentiality regarding integrity opportunities.
Effective organizational, communication, and writing skills.
Ability to direct and prioritize multiple tasks.
Able to work irregular hours including occasional overnights.
Act with a sense of urgency.
Exhibit strong leadership skills and abilities.
Ability to make appropriate decisions in stressful situations.
Knowledge of surveillance and apprehension techniques.
