Overview

The primary role of the Application Support Analyst will be technical planning thru implementation, using simple to advanced techniques, and continued maintenance of financially oriented analytical reports/applications/tools to include, but not limited to, periodic sales reporting, gross profit reporting, operating result reporting, trend analysis, capital budget progress reporting as well as filling ad hoc requests used by Weis Markets executives to drive key business decisions. Position will also assist in maintenance and continued development of departmental infrastructure as well as the maintenance and continued development of the annual operational budget application.

This role will cultivate skills that will prepare the candidate for success in future roles within the company.

  • Design, develop, implement and maintain financial analytic and operating budget applications/tools/reports using MS SQL, MS Access, MS Excel, VBA for Excel and/or VBA for Access to transform financial related data into meaningful information for progress tracking and/or decision support purposes. Projects will include project planning, requirements gathering, relational database design and development to include efficient data modeling and advanced query design as well as writing custom VBA to include modular design, custom data types (structs), multi-dimensional arrays, complex control structures and complex formulae. Projects will also include application interface design with either MS Excel or MS Access to include forms and sub-forms as well as implementation of system generated emailing’s.
  • Provide technical support for period end reporting to ensure accurate and timely delivery.
  • Assist in department infrastructure maintenance and improvement to include administration of core databases ensuring automated procedures continue to function and to implement new procedures as required. This will include design and development of MS SQL stored procedures which create efficient tables to include primary keys and indexes as well as complex queries to be executed remotely from a MS Access database which acts as a control panel for process execution and to present tying data to ensure data integrity. This position will perform Data Transformation & Load processes to ensure departmental base data is loaded accurately and on schedule for timely and accurate reporting. Data files include MS Excel, csv and text formats. The ability to open, read, re-format and output text files programmatically preferred.
  • Partner with Budgeting & Financial Analytics team members and area business owners to identify value added reporting and/or procedure opportunities related to revenue, gross profit, expense and project tracking.
  • Provide financial data and variance analysis upon request.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Business Administration with Information System concentration or related field from accredited college or university
  • Demonstrate initiative in understanding process flows and internal controls
  • Strong spreadsheet, database (SQL) and VBA skills required
  • Detail oriented with strong interpersonal, organizational, and written/oral communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment that promotes inclusiveness
  • 5 - 7 years of related experience preferred
  • Ability to preserve confidentiality of information.
  • Ability and willingness to move with purpose and a strong sense of urgency.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize a variety of tasks/projects.
  • Ability to work within strict time frames and resolute deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft® Office Excel.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft® Office Access.
