  • Managing the period and quarterly close processes for inventory and sales audit, including the review of journal entries, account reconciliations and period fluctuations. Ensuring an accurate and timely period, quarterly and year end close.
  • Build partnerships with associates within and outside the department.  Communicate in a concise and professional manner.  Prioritize and multitask efficiently to achieve department goals in a timely and efficient manner and prepare for expanded roles within the organization.  Develop accounting skills of staff by encouraging them to challenge accounting treatments and analytically review results.  Prepare them to complete new assignments of increasing complexity.
  • Partner with IT to ensure major projects are properly prioritized, delivered on time and thoroughly tested to minimize system stability issues.
  • Communicate openly with other department executives on financial issues.  Ensure all important accounting decisions are reviewed and approved by the entire finance team before implementation.
  • Partner with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance with reporting timetables and prepare schedules to support the quarterly reviews and annual audit.
  • Oversee Store Center Store Inventory count reconciliations by ensuring the 3rd party count results are accurately compared to financial inventory.  Communicate results to Merchandising, Store Operations and Asset Protection
  • Partner with Distribution Center on reviewing inventory count results to ensure inventory balances by department and warehouse are accurately stated at the end of each period.
  • Oversee the recording of daily sales through the Sales Audit system and the gross margin calculation by department.
  • Provide analysis for management in weekly forecasting of Cash Over/Shorts, Inventory Adjustments and Gross Profit.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • CPA or CPA Candidate preferred
  • 5+ years of experience working in the Accounting profession
